To Friends And Thursday Nights

I'm way too lazy to fuss on how or why we decided to meet up on a Thursday night, BUT to be honest it was the best breather I've had in a week that's got me on an emotional roller coaster.

Going Mexican in Baja @ Greenbelt 3 (Thanks to Cassey for the pic)

Thanks to Cassey, Mike, and Aryan - I've had so much fun and more laughter than I could count. Let's do this again soon, yes? :D

On This Day...

Dearest Letty, Happy Mothers' Day mom! We love you so much. If dad calls me his princess, then you are definitely his Queen. :)

 Hello beautiful!

And to all the mothers of the world, a big THANK YOU for being the superwomen that you all are in our lives.

HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY!!!

Movies, Movies, Movies!!!

May is finally here, and tinseltown’s talked-about movies just keep on coming. Of course, being the movie junkie that I am, I just can’t pass up the chance to watch these movies in the big screen, popcorn or no popcorn. This is a long-overdue post, since I’ve been way too lazy to post anything lately. And yes, it’s gonna be quite a lengthy one.

Shutter Island

Ever since Leo DiCaprio has transitioned from being a matinee idol in the big screen to one of Hollywood’s serious actors, I’ve let a lot of his recent movies pass by and would just reluctantly watch them on home video. So what spelled the difference that made me watch another Scorsese flick starring DiCaprio, this time on the big screen? Honestly, it was Facebook. Seriously. That day, a LOT of my friends mentioned in their respective shoutouts that it was a good movie, blah blah blah. So I watched anyway, and was – just as I was with any other Martin Scorsese film – impressed.

Psyched with Shutter Island!

It is one seriously psycho flick that ended with the most unexpected twist, and DiCaprio delivered an applaud-worthy performance. Although the film was mostly talkies, the entire plot was a puzzle itself that will leave you guessing on what’s gonna happen next. Honestly, the ending was one I never saw coming.

The Back-up Plan

Hmmm... I wonder if I could also device my own back-up plan... :)

After what seemed like forever, along came another rom-com starring sexy mom Jennifer Lopez. Yup, she’s timeless and charming as ever, but the movie was a little bland and a bit too predictable for my taste. But the movie did have its funny moments, though – scenes where I guess any woman in her late 20’s or early 30’s who’s yet to meet the One can totally relate to. (Uhmm, present! LOL!) Still, JLo has got that old charm, but I’ve seen her do better in a rom-com than this one. By the way, I also downloaded the soundtrack for the movie coz it’s got some really cool songs in the OST. In fact, I've been playing a couple of tracks from the album quite endlessly on my iPod for quite some time now. Go check it out! :)

Iron Man II

Oh yes, Tony Stark strikes back! And this time around, it’s one massive robot galore. Now, for those who were itching for some robotic action and stunts, this movie was definitely made to their taste. Don’t get me wrong, I do have my share of liking for heavy action in movies like these. But at the same time I was expecting a lot more depth where the storyline was concerned. Still, the action-packed scenes and visual effects PLUS Scarlett Johansson’s sultry appeal in the movie made up for the shallow plot. Oh, and did I mention that, as usual, Robert Downey Jr's performance deserved a thumbs-up? But I guess by this time you all know that now, right?

Tony Stark is soo back!!!

So there. As the weeks go by, I’m pretty sure a lot more movie reviews like this one will come. The weather in Manila and in most parts of the country is sooo friggin’ hot, I wouldn’t mind spending the day lazing away at the mall doing one of my all-time favourite pastimes – movies!!! Good thing, a couple of talked-about films are coming to town – think: Robin Hood and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. How’s that for some epic battle themes on the big screen, huh? Can’t wait!
